Just beacuse my last post was based on cricket, dont even think that this too is gonna be about our future in cricket. This is an entirely different story. APJ's dream of 2020!!With the way thinks turning out these days , I seriously got the feeling that dreams wont come true!!!Hope am wrong!!I am an eternal optimist but the reason i have been pushed into this frame of mind is solely dedicated to one program i saw in TV sometime back. This was about something called Gigolo and from then on am in shock.
I really can c everyone searching a dictionary for this word.I did not know the meaning too but thanks to the channel that i have learnt the meaning.
Gigolos?????????They simply mean " A man who has a continuing sexual relationship with and receives financial support from a woman" or simply a male hooker. We have always heard a million stories about the 'male lust' but it came out as a surprise atleast when i saw this show.
It was a show simply indicating the rise in the number of the gigolos.A constant rise i guess. Pathetic! We have always been criticising the attitude of the males, but with this sudden info don't know who to criticise...The guy who makes a profession out of it or the Indian women searching for the pleasure(i feel wretched even typing this)?????????????
What does it mean to be a gigolo? “Just fun loving people who want to enjoy their life can do anything until and unless it doesn't harm anyone!" This was the statement. Am actually surprised with the niche they have carved out for themselves. We don't want to see a customer base for this do we?
The Indian women has often been portrayed to be the epitome of love, affection and what not and all of a sudden some news. Besides ,another new career oppurtunity for our youngsters!!!!!!!!!!!!God save everyone!!!
The last few years has seen a massive change in cultural trends ,with many Indians liking to imitate the people in the west. Its an irony that this is happening at a time when people in the west have started realizing the importance of family, love and togetherness that we Indians have been professing for long. The people who haven't been able to accept such cultural changes have been pointed to be having a taboo!!!Taboo???????Simply resisting something thats just not suitable for this country is not lack of broad mindedness!!!!!Am sure many of us would agree that this is not what we wanted to see!!!
With Apj's deadline for his 2020 dream nearing, we simply are getting from bad to worse!Improvement on the economic front has been what v have been targetting for sometime but simply ignoring our values and customs , is just not right! With every dawn i just hope we better in everything not just economy!!!!!!!!

Well sowmya I have also heard about it. imitating the west is good but lets imitate them for better reasons ..like say work culture, education system, their policy of not interfering in one’s personal life, non gossip culture etc…while there are loads and loads of positive traits that we can adopt from the west why taking only the negatives? We got to think on serious line.. As u said when the west is now realizing their mistakes and accepting our norms shouldn’t we serve as an example to them ?time to think about it my frndz…
@ramya-hey the earth is rotating in a faster way so i think we r fillin up there shoes(west)and they ours.....
hey sowmya i dont know whether u have seen this movie 'julie'...the revolves arnd a women who becames prostitute to acheive her dreams as this work fetches her more money than any other work...see like this msg's comin up entertainment media apj's drm will always be a drm we can make it 2080 atleast we wont be there to see the changes happening whether worse to better or worse to worser.
hey venkat...julie was the movie that sir once talked to us about..i remember that.did not c the movie...and u knw wat the actree claimed that it is only sex n SRK that sells in bollywood...as if there were no successfull heroine
Hey Sowmya
Yet another thought provoking post!!Good job..Well on a serious note the very thought of 'imitating' in itself does nt sound good..APJ wanted India to be a super power by 2020..But he dint mean we shud imitate other super powers fr tat..Well sex is legalised in many forign countries da..So its not a big thing fr them..Sad part is tat people in India are takin advantage of tht n by doing so they r jus forgettin our culture , our values..we thought people who were into prostitution were forced to do it n they had no choice but do it..Its shocking to see tat its become one of the careers which people voluntarily adopt in the name of BOLLYWOOD n movies jus to recieve a huge pay package..N yeah i did see JULIE..Atleast a person like Neha Dhupia who happens to be a miss INDIA shud nt sign such movies..Beauty peagents r fr people wt beuty n brains..They shud carry a torch, shud do some good to people fr wateva publicity they get..Lets jus forget the deadine n wait fr the day wen India finally becomes a super power in the right sense..
SHOCKIN is d only word comin to ma mind now...have hrd bout it and also seen part of d hollywood movie..but wt is shockin me so much is dat such a thing is so prevelant in India!God only knws wen v wud learn to b ourselves and stnd up for wat v r and wat v truly represent!common ppl it is high time u b proud of our culture..those ppl 've nthn called culture and stil try spreadin it to the world..thnk of how much v shud b flauntin our culture den...b proud to b an indian and to b blessed wid such a splendid and rich culture!
I have heard about this and how it's prevalent in the west! The very fact that India has been adopting a lot of unwanted beliefs from the western culture and now this has also queued up doesn't surprise me,cos it's been happenin for quite sometime! But there's always the hope that despite all these evil forces our culture won't be forgotten and end of it all ppl fall back to our culture!
Nice post ya something new really good!
firstly..kudos to sowmya for having come out with this post which i guess many would hesitate to publish.as a matter of fact, i too saw this programme and was equally startled.well.. let me also tell you something.this concept of "gigolo" isnt something very new.i remember having seen one such programme in star news around 6yrs back.so i suppose gigolos have been in existence for a quite a long time and the issue has become so public today because of the surge in the number of private news channels.the basic reason for this is that india is a diversified nation with an umpteen hundred beliefs and faiths.so what sounds nonsense to you may be absolutely sane to someone else.this is fundamentally an attitude problem.people's attitude about sex has undergone radical changes and its no more a secluded issue. but still this concept of "gigolo" doesnt fit into our deep rooted culture. its high time we realise that we are heading in the wrong direction and take that "u turn" as soon as possible.
i think its high time we accept the fact that men are not the only ppl who crave for sex and go about seeking prostitutes...
its just the fact tat cos of the lines along which our society has been built...we find the fact that women might do the same...hard to digest...
and i actually dont see how this puts us on the back foot with regards to achieving vision 2020...i agree that this is something tat is against our cultural values and all...but so is prostitution....
i am not supporting these kind of activities...but i feel tat we can regard somethin like this as the choice of the individual...and just leav it at tat....
Good topic for a blog sowmya.. But i think the ppl who r soo much shocked abt this don read newspaper..and if any of u ppl r tamil students.. hope u read +2 tamil well.. there r strong evidences in the sanga ilkiyam abt propstitution existing in that age itself which we consider tamil culture was at its heights..and all thro the time there has being illegal relationships which the papers reveal.. its not that wowan have suddenly started craving for flesh.. it was always there maybe there have started to pay for it now.My opinion is that our society is putting on a act.. everyone has the desire and only some have the guts to follow it.. the ones who are unable to follow it are jelous and they try to make it look bad... i am not saying its rite.. but i am telling the fact..fact is that women are also as vulnerable as men are as far as sex is concerned...and that is from time immemorial.. as far as this is rite or wrond is based on the individual's decision.. and i think we shld be decent enough not to comment on it.
what if it had been practiced from yester years..a mistake is a mistake..no matter how long it has been under practice!!If everyone could go and sleep with everyone around there could just be more lusty people around you than true frens r even good people. And as far as decency about commenting about this concerned.,..as an Indian citizen i got the right to speak...n express my views
hmmmm...... i a way i agree wit u..actually there are same amount of lusty ppl around us as there would be there as now.. only thing is that they are having it in their mind.. and some even do it discreetly.. things wont change much by allowing ppl to live the way they wish to.. and i don think there is a need to pull india in here to talk abt this.. just bcoz ur good u cant expect everyone to be good..and just by crtising them we cant get anywhere...maybe we shld teach them how to stay controlled and make them realise that there is more in life than mere sex..
